This crisp feeling the cold brings makes the warmth that much more of a fulfilling sensation. The season that allows a person to no longer feel inconvenienced with their wardrobe but to have the satisfaction of the simple comfort of a knit sweater. It is a mini vacation that wasn’t planned, an opportunity to catch up for a second in the midst of the chaos that the end of a semester brings. The day that allows a person to find their inner child when building a snowman or a snowball fight. The fun becomes so intense, the numbness from the coldness seems to be nonexistent. The multiple layers of clothing no longer feel dry as one waddles back into the warmth. It’s a holiday we should remember as an experience, of love and closeness, not stress and anxiety. It should be a time to give thanks for all the blessings we have received throughout the year. I am sure Christmas means something different to different people; however, I think we can all agree that in the end our family is what matters. It goes as the saying says, “brought together by blood, but kept together by love.” With that said, I choose to instill in my family the true meaning of Christmas, and I apologize in advance if I offend you, but I wish you and yours a very “MERRY…

Christmas is a favored holiday by children, maybe because of the presents, or because of the magical aura that seems the envelop the whole season. Christmas is celebrated in honor of the birth of Jesus christ, son of god. A Mass service (which is sometimes called Communion or Eucharist) is where Christians remember that Jesus died for us was resurrected. For one family a snow day will bring out the best in them and the worst in them. They will get to experience several emotions. Family is everything, and regardless of what they do or how they act , there is always going to be a special bond between family. " Let it Snow" by David Sedaris was a powerful story because the plot was dysfunctional, amusing, and through everything he showed a family that was loving and devoted to one another. Dysfunctional is definitely a true description of the family in this story, I was in disbelief of some of their actions.…

Soft whooshing sounds rose up from beneath my skis as they slid across the soft crystal like snow glistening in the bright winter sun. The cool and crisp air was the ideal temperature for a day of skiing, not too cold to make it uncomfortable, but still cold enough to keep the snow from melting and turning slushy. With these snow conditions and bright blue skies above, all in all, it looked to be a perfect day for skiing with my family. Accompanied by my Mom, Uncle, and 4 cousins, we woke at the crack of dawn, packed the car with equipment and snacks, and began the hour and a half trek to Mount Sunapee in New Hampshire. At best, my level of skiing competence could be described as advanced-beginner.…

In spite of this, my mind is focused on the skiers and snowboarders racing their way down and I feel a rush as I replay past trips down in my head. As our chair becomes even with the surface of the peak, I slide off and turn toward the trail I’d planned to take. Though it’s freezing cold, I barely notice under the abundance of layers I’m wearing. The sun hides behind a thin layer of clouds, illuminating the sky just enough to savor the view, but just enough overcast to give it an enchanted feel.…
