Drunken Escapades
Intoxicated adults are extremely difficult to babysit and keep out of trouble; especially, when they cause troubling situations that affect everyone. I learned this while helping my boyfriend, Drew, watch his father while his mother, Rebecca, was at work for the night. At the beginning of the night, around five in the afternoon, my boyfriend, Drew, and I decided to take his father, Scot, to Jefferson’s for dinner. This seemed like a harmless idea. Once we arrived at Jefferson’s, a sports bar in Fort Payne, Alabama, Scot ordered a Budweiser; however, prior to leaving his house, he had drank two of them already. On the way back to Drew’s house after eating, Scot had drank another beer or two. When we returned to Drew’s house after eating, Scot decided that he wanted to drive around in the Rhino, so Drew and I followed him while riding the four wheeler. About a mile up the road was a road block, which we avoided by turning on a dirt

Scared to death, I hopped out of the truck along with Drew and Scot. The police officer began to yell at us; then, he proceeded to ask Drew for his driver’s license. The officer asked why we turned around if we were not trying to hide anything. Scot decided to tell the officer that he forgot his dip, which the cop found in his pocket while searching Scot. Then, the officer searched Drew, but he did not find anything appealing or important to the situation. While the cop was yelling at Drew, the officer realized that he had went to school with Scot, and they began joking with one another; needless to say, Drew and me were highly confused about the whole situation. Once we realized what was happening, we began wondering how this would end. Finally, Scot and the officer were done catching up on old times, and the officer let Drew go with a warning. We decided that was enough entertainment for one night and went back to Drew’s

This learner can relate to fear on a dark road, being stopped by an officers and having them shine a light in the vehicle and then start asking questions. The fear for the Lawyers brothers started with the stop, and then the question of what was in the red pouch, next the demand to see what was inside the back and lastly them stating over and over again they do not trust the officer and would only sign the citation on their car not the officers. Shimmering lights lit up the crowded streets of New York City like the stars of the night sky; they made up for the fact that you couldn’t see the real ones. My feet felt like concrete blocks attached to my legs as I walked, I guess you could call it, through numerous groups of locals and tourists, all I’m sure who could tell easily that I had quite an edge. They didn’t know why, and frankly neither did I. All I knew was that I wanted to be by her side. I had first encountered Mabel one random night when I stumbled upon the 42 Club after leaving work, grimy and dirty from fixing up snobby, rich guys' cars all day and hating my life.…

I was smiling the whole time as the skin around my neck was being ripped off. Well I wasn’t actually smiling and as brutal as I made it sound, it wasn’t as horrific an event now that I look back on it. The incident occurred while I was on Spring Break during my freshman year in high school. My family and I were vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee;which if I might add we’ve been there about eight times since I was seven years old. I remember clearly that day down to the exact temperature.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…

When I ride it's like the earth stops at every corner so I can check to make sure a, loud, car isn't roaring towards me. I ride because I was thought that you need to be active in life, but it was never about the one hour of activity time we are supposed to have growing up. it was much more than that. I didn't need help to ride, I needed help to face down my enemies, or conquer my dreams.…
