Personal Narrative: Clark University

In life, there are few places where we go and feel completely at comfort. A place where our guards are down and we can take a break from the chaotic world outside. Where you can rip off the mask of yourself that you show strangers and be truly yourself with no fear of being ridiculed. This place, for me, is Clark University. It is hard to describe in words why, but as soon as I stepped onto the grounds of the university I knew that it was where I was meant to belong.
Even before visiting the university, Clark had stood out to me for having everything that I wanted in a college. For a long time I had known that I wanted to attend a studious, small liberal arts private school. I have always been eager for education. Throughout high school I

I was 10 years old. I looked from the edge of the mat, unaware about the endeavor I was about to take the moment my foot touched that mat. I finally decided to walk on, like they had taught me by bowing, it was the first of a near million times I was going to do this. I was a white belt, at the best taekwondo centers in the area. All the kids, stood to the side eerily silent, waiting for instructions.…

He did not only complete high school and college but also became a professor. Although Clark did not plan his life to improve, he demonstrates to us that being in a non-traditional home such as a library didn’t discourage him from his pursuit of a higher education. Clark learned to be content with his place in life, and that helped his road to…

I m originally from Secaucus New Jersey, I have moved to Houston during my senior year of college. I didn’t know any university during that time because I was still new to Texas. But as time passed by, people would always gave high remarks and praised Sam Houston State University in Kingwood High School. As graduation grew closer and closer; I decided that I will apply to SHSU but sadly I became very ill and required to get my colon removed due to having over 100 cancerous polyps. As time passed it took me a year to finish 3 surgeries and I was on the road of recovery.…

My graduate experience will be light years different then my undergraduate training. I chuckle just contemplating the technological difference alone. Back when I attended undergraduate school there wasn’t the internet, the LoudCloud, e-books, or personal laptop computers. We thought we were “hot stuff” because we progressed from the slide ruler to a state of the art Texas Interment graphing calculator. By the way google informed me that my particular calculator at that time was the first of its kind.…

As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

Regent University was by far my favorite university I have visited. I was able to stay on campus for a weekend this past summer and experience what its like to be a regent. I stayed in a dorm with Elizabeth Landon. Elizabeth was a great representation of a Regent. She was a wonderful example of true christian leader and really showed how Christ is helping her change the world.…

I remember when I was 5, the first time I went to a building daily for 8 hours. I sat down on the cold blue chair. In front of me was a bin of crayons, all the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. I remember sitting in the cold room and having the freedom to draw marks on my blank sheet of paper. The dye scratching against the table, colors spreading across the canvas like the sun, rising in the early morning.…

“Congratulations!!” read one post on a friend’s Facebook wall, the day after she landed an office job in her field. “So amazing!” read another. “Are you ready for your big-girl job?” asked a third well-wisher, accompanied by a GIF of Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope. “I can’t believe I finally have a real job” was the text she sent me a few days later, from the comfort of her desk, where she had been hired to do operations work for an organization she had once, a few years prior, interned for.…

Brown is a place where students have the freedom to grow, learn about themselves, and enjoy life. In all my years of school there was always someone looking over my shoulder, interjecting their opinions, or spoonfeeding me the answers. I want my college education to be my own. Taking ownership of my education is a large responsibility, but I am mature enough to handle the challenge. The collaborative atmosphere of Brown, where students work with, instead of against, one another, will give me the guidance and support I need to figure out the best educational path for myself.…

“It’s a great college, but it's not the best place for me”. This is what I tell my peers when they ask why I am considering transferring to another college. Wheaton College is an extraordinary school with some of the brightest students and most knowledgeable professors in the nation. Deciding where I wanted to attend college and what I wanted out of my college experience was an immense amount of pressure placed on the shoulders of my then eighteen-year-old self. In the end, Wheaton College won out over all of my other options for several reasons.…

Semester of Learning Experiences People most always say, “ Learn from you mistakes and achievements.” I would definitely conclude that is exactly what I’ve done this first semester of college. There are many times that I wanted to simply curl into a ball because of all the newness and unfamiliarity. At times I found myself doing just that, but realizing that I needed to toughen up burst from my comfort zone. I can say sleeping through your classes never the best choice, not going just because you find it too easy, missing a class just to write a paper for another class, and differentiating between minimal and highly important status of choices.…

Coincidentally, each student will be required to gain access to the internet as colleges become more technology dependent. With so many different kinds of computers out there, it can be a daunting choice to choose the correct one for their specific needs and that can readily meet their necessities for the years to come as a student. The MacBook Pro was the pc I went with, and it was an excellent choice although there are plenty of other options that are equally as worthy.…

In my seventh grade Spanish 2 lesson plan for FLED 4410 I tried to apply a lot of what I have learned about FLA into my lesson plan. This lesson plan I made specifically honed in on multiple intelligences, communication, and differentiation. For the multiple intelligences aspect of the lesson plan I incorporated a variety of different activities that different students would enjoy. Writing and presenting for students with the linguistic intelligence, calculating calories and prices for students with mathematical intelligence, gestures and actions during the song and vocab presentation for bodily kinesthetic intelligence, working in pairs for students with interpersonal intelligence, and activities focusing on introspection for students with…
