There are far more positive attributes to reading literature that has not been mentioned, however I have a deep understanding and history with empathy while reading, understanding complex situations, and setting moral standards for myself in my every day living. During that school year, I was introduced to the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee. The novel was focused on prejudice in the south, and an underserving criminal charge against a colored man. The novel allowed me to empathize with the characters throughout the story, learn and expand my knowledge of the difficult situations, and also to explore human morality and set standards for myself.
