Percy Jackson Essay

In the stories Percy Jackson and the Olympians the Lightning Thief and “Danaus, Perseus, and the Gorgon” shows how the percy jackson movie modernises the perseus story with the events, hero types, and the theme. The first the that I am going to start with is the events.
It transforms it through the events with the the start of the each of their quest. It all starts with both of them trying to save or get there mom back with persuas he was trying to protect his mom from the evil king. “...If perseus had not protected her.”(D'aulaires, 116). For percy it was to get his mom for hades exchange it for the bolt. If you ever want to see your mother again you will bring the bolt(Percy Jackson). The next event is the medusa head. The both had to cut off medusa's head to move on with the quest. Perseus had to slay medusa and bring the king her head to protect his mother from the king. “...he cut off medusa's head.”(D'aulaires,118), and with Percy he cut off her head to get the pearl and continue to go to the underworld.(Percy Jackson). The last thing that it transfer for the events is the wing shoes that they get and the gods that help these two heroes on

The theme that both used that I saw was the underdog. With perseus he did what no one had done before he slayed medusa “...one deft stroke he cut off medusa's head.”(D'aulaires,118). With Percy he thought that he was just a loser but he beat the daughter of Athena-- Annabeth in battle (that was rare) and won capture the flag.(Percy Jackson) Another thing is that Perseus killed a sea monster to save Andromeda. “...he lifted the head out of the bag.”(D'aulaires,120). The final thing for Percy he lifted the head and turned the hydra into another piece in the museum.(Percy Jackson) In counseling that is how Percy Jackson and the Olympians the Lightning Thief monderizes “Danaus, Perseus, and the

The Sarcophagus Panel Depicting the Abduction of Persephone was created by an anonymous Ionian sculptor around 190/200 CE. The Sarcophagus Panel Depicting the Abduction of Persephone is a high relief sculpture that shows Hades (god of the underworld) abducting Demeter’s (the harvest goddess) very young daughter Persephone so that he can marry the young girl. This relief sculpture was inspired by the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, which tells the story of Hades kidnapping Persephone. This work of art is a relief sculpture that was created out of marble since marble was a common medium that the ancient Greeks and Romans would use in sculptures. The sculpture itself is around a meter and a half tall and six meters wide.…

Task 9 and 10 The greater hero is Theseus instead of Perseus for many reasons. For example, Perseus has no idea that he is a hero, he never really helps anyone so should not be considered a hero. He just goes through some challenges that only benefit him and no one else. He actually gets a lot of help from some gods along the way and does not really do anything that helps.…

Not only that, but the theme of healing is less about righteous justice against an uncaring spouse, and more of a loving mother who wants her daughter back, or “mourning as a tool for healing” as Madeline Nold puts it (Nold 171). In this story it’s Demeter’s refusal to keep the Earth’s balance that forces Hades to return Persephone: the world literally can’t be returned to normal until things are set right in the spiritual realm. The fact that there are two goddesses in this story, who can be read as the delicate and feminine versus strong, maternal and earthy aspects of Inanna, compound these comparisons. In short, the shamanistic connection between…

While on his voyage he becomes and meets characters that match the Hero’s Journey archetypes as they help or prevent him on his journey. The interpretation of the stages of the Hero’s Journey below helps to describe Odysseus’s travels by breaking it down piece by piece.…

In the information given by Apollodorus, he refers to Demeter as Demeter, whereas Ovid refers to her as Ceres. Ovid says “Ceres first turned the earth with the curved plough; she first gave corn and crops to bless the land; she first gave laws; all things are Ceres’ gift” (Ovid, 109). In Ovid’s account of the Rape of Persephone, he adds information about Cupid, Hades, Persephone, and introduces a nymph named Cyane. However, although he does add information he also subtracts information given in Apollodorus’ Library. In Apollodorus’ Library Demeter learns from the people of Hermion that Persephone has been kidnapped.…
