Becoming a teenager is a major milestone. Differences within one’s body and mind are just a few of the changes that go along with becoming a teenager. Fitting in and gaining friends is often difficult for all ages. Throughout the teenage years this is a common worry. Wanting to fit in and become accepted by others is a normal part of growing up. Being influenced so greatly that it affects the behavior, attitude and dress of someone is peer pressure. Peer pressure does not always have to be a negative thing. Unfortunately, when it comes to driving teen peer pressure is nothing but negative. Accidents happen daily, teen peer pressure is a major cause of driving accidents among these adolescents.

Though some may be positive peer pressure while driving has been proven to be very dangerous. Teens strive to fit it and be accepted amongst their peers. They try to stick to social norms like becoming a licensed driver and follow their peers. This time in their life is fun but can also have harsh consequences. Car accidents happen daily but teen drivers are more at risk for these accidents when they have someone else in their car. An extra person who is on the phone, playing with the radio or just making requests can become a distraction. Teens are peer pressured into driving under the influence and in places they shouldn’t too much. Statistically, risky behavior while driving is enhanced when a teen is driving with their peers. They feel the need to fit it and while driving is no acceptation. Being cool is the top priority but safety in numbers does not prove to be true when it comes to teens and driving with one
