As an initial budget exercise ACPS facilities management commissioned a recent cost estimate to design and construct the Patrick Henry project. Our project management firm Brailsford & Dunlavey (B&D) conducted a project estimate with the assistance of a cost estimating firm to provide current pricing. The estimates received indicated higher cost from previous cost estimates due to added contingencies cost exceeding $5 million dollars. ACPS original cost estimates didn’t used contingencies cost in their estimates.
In addition, B&D cost estimates were based on design and programming comparisons with Jefferson Houston. Our current contractual requirements for Patrick Henry are stated under a “design-to-budget” with ACPS adopted educational
