Pathologists make higher than average salaries and have job opportunities in a wide variety of settings. It was said that 86% of Pathologists would choose to do the same medical specialty and become a Pathologist again, according to the Medscape Compensation report for 2022. Now that we talked about the good aspects of being a pathologist, we need to get to know the aspects of the job that may be a deal breaker for some people. It’s no secret that medical school is costly (78% of students graduate in debt) and the entrance to medical school is very competitive. Some may think that the amount of debt they accumulate isn’t worth the wait for that very compensating salary they will get when they finally get to become a pathologist. From there, now we can start listing the job duties and repeating this process as many times as needed. Lastly, the fifth step is listing skills that make one suited for the job one is applying for. Examples include medical skills, analytical skills, communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and diagnostic skills. Once one is ready and has looked over the resume and has practiced for an interview, we can start applying. Now, after all these steps, we can finally get an idea of what it would take to become a pathologist. Although there may be many years of school to become a pathologist, there is a guaranteed job specializing in what is chosen that will support the future one sees in their plans. There is minimal to no personal interaction if this job is pursued. That may be what some people look for in a job. Doing research before pursuing a career is essential to knowing what one is getting
