The Parish School The Parish School is a private school that assess and treats children who have communication delays and learning difficulties. The parish school provides beneficial support to the children in the school, who live throughout the Houston area. The placement and instructional techniques used within the classroom are designed to effectively maximize and improve Parish student’s progress in speech, language, academic, and social areas. The Parish School consist of eight buildings. There are four buildings that contain classrooms, an administration building, the Carruth Center (a pediatric therapy clinic), a library/theater/music therapy building, and a sports court. Parish also has adventure play areas, playgrounds, and gardens. The classroom buildings have four classrooms and two observation rooms in each building. Each classroom is divided into different sections. In the front of the classrooms there are chairs in a semicircle surrounding the instructor, there is a reading area, an area to eat, and one or multiple educational areas. The older children educational areas have science stations, history stations, math stations, and art stations. I believe Parish is an amazing place from both children and educators. The main disadvantage that speech language pathologist deal with is paperwork, but they do not have to deal with as much paperwork as a public elementary school teacher. The school provides support and information to parents, helping to improve the relationship between the speech pathologist and the parents. Inclusion in general education classrooms is continuously discussed and it is important. Although it is also imperative that children are around and know about children with similar speech, language, and/or learning deficits, and Parish provides this
