During the Middle ages the Catholic religion was the most common religion people would follow during this time period.The church would ruler over most of the townspeople during this time. The church had lied to the people and made them believe indulgences were real.The Pardoner’s tale reveals influence on the Catholic religion during the middle ages, by illustrating their doctrine and the lives of the people in order to show the culture of the time.

People would believe the pardoner because of all the things he was saying. He told people that the plague was close and on its way to kill people for the sins and wrongs. Also in the Pardoner’s tale three people were looking for gold they were supposably friends. They planned to kill each other get the gold for themselves. They were all successful on the their plans. Two People stabbed one of the guys but his plan was to poison the other guys (Chaucer 27 -28). Betrayal and greed was what drove them to kill each other. The pardoner told the people after he told his tale. If there is anyone who seeks forgiveness from sins.If they wanted wanted to be forgiven they would have to pay a coin worth twelve pence. The Pardon told the host if he were to be forgiven he would have to pay silver coin worth four pence.the host kissed his relics the people would be free from bad luck and sins (Chaucer EDU 30). With all this being said this has influenced how people view and think about the Catholic Church and show the wrong they have done. It has also changed the culture of the Church throughout time. Having to learn what my religions has done during this time period, I have learned that one person can change how everyone see something
