The Australian Health Care system protects the Australian population with the high standard of healthcare provided, it does however struggle to provide equal assistance in healthcare across some parts of the Australia. These challenges are particularly prominent in rural and remote areas that have limited access to health care resources than that of higher population sectors of the Australian population.

University education has become a possibility for paramedics, offering paramedics the opportunity of studying a degree as a part of the training that they undergo (Queensland Ambulance Service, 2005, 2006, 2007). A diverse scope of opportunities are available to paramedics after they have completed their degree.
