People think of drones as only having the task of causing destruction and not contributing to the greater good. They are called war machines, yet drones can be useful for other jobs to help keep the peace inside and outside the borders of the United States. Police, in the United States, take use of aerial surveillance drones to help the law enforcement track criminals. These aircrafts will be able to monitor traffic and crowds to allow for more peace. Plus, drones are a tremendous advantage because they allow the police to have an eye in the sky. Drones are more than just a Warbird, they help catch criminals, help aid in disasters, and assist in aerial surveillance to support border control. Police around the country are operating drones to catch criminals and track down fugitives. In North Dakota, police arrested a man for terrorizing the law enforcement and for theft. The man owned a 3,000 acre farm and had stolen six cows so the police “called in an unmanned aerial vehicle to pinpoint Brossart's location at the ranch” (Koebler, “Police Look to”). Law enforcement in the United States has already started to use drones, which helps them with many missions and other jobs. In situations like Brossart’s, drones play a huge role in locating and allowing those in charge to keep an eye on their targets. In theory, this helps with arresting major fugitives and other high ranking criminals. The law enforcement also uses drones to help with taking pictures and videos of those wronging the law. Chester County plaintiffs are “hoping the images captured by the unmanned device, driven by four propellers and weighing less than a half-gallon of milk” will allow them to send a man to jail ("Drones Give Law"). The drone that took the footage of the accused allowed the prosecutors to send him to jail for murder. Cases like these around the country are allowing the police to revolutionize the efficiency at which criminals are brought in. Because of drones being veritable they can be used for mapping and aiding areas that were damaged from these disasters. Jenny Burke is a spokesperson for the Customs and Protection agency, she says, “that the drones are sometimes deployed… to provide aerial mapping of flood zones and storm-stricken areas,” (Whitlock et al., “Law Enforcement Agencies”). Drones are used for many mission to help law enforcement and help this country. The drones are being bought not just for stopping crime, but to help keep the peace of the people by assisting with investigations of car accident and finding missing persons. In many disaster like Katrina and the tornado in Oklahoma, drones have been used to aid those survivors. The drone finds lost survivors and gives medicine to the victims. They are immensely helpful because they “can [be] launch[ed] quickly in dangerous situations” (Kelly, “Drones: The Future”). Many of the aircrafts are called UAVs or unmanned automated vehicles, which are big contributors to help these victims.
