Nowadays, the hunting, fishing, collecting and trapping of wildlife at unsustainable levels is not something new. Trophy hunting is oldest game, which is the selective hunting of wild game. According to In Defense of Animals, every year, trophy hunters kill thousands of exotic wild animals, representing hundreds of different species, in foreign countries, primarily in Africa. They prefer to kill the most beautiful, the biggest and the rarest (qtd. in “Trophy Hunting”). Trophy hunting is become popular. According to PLOS ONE, the result showed “African lions are hunted across 27–32% of the lion distribution in countries where trophy hunting of the species is permitted, and at least 16% of the total lion distribution in Africa” (Lindsey et al. 7). International Fund for Animal Welfare Office Director Jeff Flocken said, “The king of the jungle is heading toward extinction, and yet Americans continue to kill lions for sport. The United States is responsible for importing over half of all lions brought home by trophy hunter each year. The African lion is in real trouble and it is time for this senseless killing and unsustainable practice to stop” (Wildlife Advocates Seek Protection for African Lions). Humans are hunting African lions not only for trophy game. African lions’ body parts are supply in international countries. Many associations are taking action to save African lions. They are making protected areas for African lions. There are many parks for lions like Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya and Kruger National Park, South Africa. Massai Mara National Reserve is oldest park. Also, Bruce D. Patterson states, in 1939, MacArthur suggested incorporating as a park the entire region between the Wakamba and Massia reserves and between the coastal strip and the Tanzanian border (187). There is Kruger National Park, the biggest wildlife sanctuaries for the African lions. Protecting African Lion is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ultimately get protection status for the African lion. Lions are most majestic animal in the world. Therefore, Protecting African Lion is a non-profit organization whose mission is to ultimately get protection status for the African lion. However, African lions are dying due to diseases and climate change while living in these protected national parks. According to article, “Lions are facing an indirect threat from climate change called co-infection. Lions periodically face outbreaks of the disease distemper, and usually weather them with little mortality. However, distemper outbreaks in 1994 and 2001 caused massive die-offs. Researchers found that the key environmental factor in the 1994 and 2001 epidemics was the occurrence of a severe drought” (qtd.
