These organisations are terrorists, but they are not outcasted as Christianity is seen in Western society as the dominant religion. The Crucible, a novel written about the Salem witch trials, closely relates to modern society as the puritans were the conforming Christians who treated and outcast the people who were are “different”, being they were actually the bad guys. Now every Muslim is falsely accused because of their difference, and nobody remembers any of the Christian terrorism.
The terrorist group ISIS fails to represent the Islamic religion in the same way that the Puritans failed to represent Christianity. A small group of people can’t reflect the whole religion, the Puritans acted in such a way that went against their religion and the commandments that they stood for, how ironic. Another example is the IRA, catholic Christians who were responsible for bombings that killed countless of innocent people. In America, recently the president of the United States, Donald Trump has banned six major Islamic countries, aiming to reduce the number of Muslims entering. Over 300 years ago, the Puritans treated witches in the same manner, as they were never given a fair chance, to prove themselves, Muslims have been banned from the US with the only reason, being they’re all categorized by their society as terrorists because of their religion. The modern example above is a quote from Political leader Pauline Hanson stating you can’t tell which Muslims are bad, but you can line up a group of random people and you still can’t tell which of those people are bad. The claim made is invalid and has no relevant evidence to for support.
Society will always treat outsiders differently, because they’re afraid of ‘the other’. Various media people will discriminate against people who are not conformists. Categorizing people into stereotypes, to segregate these people so that they can keep their own sense of purity?
Anyone who follows different standards to what society expects, will be outcast and deemed an outsider. Throughout society, stereotypes and false representations will develop to keep the impurities out of society. People are witch-hunted for acting differently and society has everything to gain from this, because then there expected standards will stay the same. Society can’t handle change, therefore must remove what causes it, whether that be Muslims or
