Anne and Mr. Frank provide hope through out the play in order to keep other characters happy and to maintain a happy household. Mr. Frank shows optimism by assuring people they will be able to move around and have fun, just as they did before (Page 16). Otto also comforts Anne by pointing out all the similarities between the Annex and home (Page 22). Mr. Frank encourages characters and uplifts their spirit by pointing out the goods and similarities between the past and the present. Anne also is optimistic throughout the play, on page 113 in her voiceover she points says, “There’s still excellent news of the invasion.
