Oprah Winfrey: A Renaissance Person

A Renaissance person is usually thought of Leonardo Da Vinci or someone born in that era, not someone as current as Oprah Winfrey. As though it may not seem Oprah Winfrey is very well a renaissance woman no-matter what year she was born in. She shows intelligence, success, and leadership. Oprah Winfrey is a renaissance person due to her many qualities.
Initially, Oprah Winfrey has so many qualities reflecting positivity on herself, such as intelligence. Oprah is a renaissance woman because It takes intelligence to have a superb mind for all sorts of things. Intelligence is more than just smarts, but the ability to acquire knowledge and skills as well. Oprah’s intelligence came to display at an early age when she learned how to read before the age of three. When it was time for Winfrey to go to kindergarten she felt she was more advanced than the other students, so she wrote a letter to her teacher asking to move to the first grade. Leadership is the act of being able to lead any sort of group in the best way. Leadership goes all the way back to the Renaissance era when there were kings and queens to rule and lead their country with wisdom. Even as a student she was naturally a leader as being the school president. A leader also can influence others such as how Winfrey, on her show talks about her opinion on topics that can help people dealing with their own problems. Being a leader reflects on being a Renaissance woman. As can be seen, Oprah Winfrey is a Renaissance woman due to her many qualities such as intelligence, success, and leadership. The definition of a Renaissance man or woman is a well educated and sophisticated person who has talent and knowledge in many different fields of study. Looking at the definition and Winfrey’s progress in life I don’t see how she can’t be a modern woman of Renaissance. Oprah Winfrey is most definitely a modern Renaissance
