I learned that it was an actual law enforcement campaign to stop the Mexican people from crossing the border. Even though I have taken many History classes I cannot recall this situation being discussed, I the term “Wetback” I have heard before, but I did not have anything to relate to the term. Also, to learn that the Mexican officials actively participated in the emigration of the Mexican people to the United States and actually profited from the United States-Mexico border. How the “Great Depression was the main reason that convinced the Mexicans that they should return to their own country because the United States was experience one of their worst times in American History with the economy at an all-time low. The opportunities for employment had become to a diminished capacity, and the number of Mexican people that returned to Mexico outnumbered the number of people entering the United States during the 1940’s. The 40,000 unaccompanied minors and the thousands of families have migrated to the United States over the past nine months and others too many of the other neighboring countries a red flag should have been raised and plans should have been implemented to combat this surge. With El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras being coined as the most violent, gang-ridden countries in the world and the majority of the emigrates coming from these countries and many are just in search of a peaceful way of life and better life expectancy. The government of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras have long histories of being corrupt and the only one that benefits from any type of aid from other countries is the government and that leaves the people with no other choice but to flee the country.
