It was an unfortunate story of a 6-year-old Kayla who was repeatedly beaten and abused by her dad. Her dad was severely brutal and abusive to this poor child that she appeared to have suspicious injuries such as broken nose, darkened circle around her eyes, bruises and cuts on her face, and frequent absences at school. I believe that the result of this traumatic experience of Kayla could have been prevented if adult individuals involved in this case were not negligent but more thoughtful and vigilant to suspicious signs and red flag. Although I only watched the film about Kayla McKean, which did not describe in depth about Florida’s regulation, relevant policies, and the work situations, I would like to share my opinion and reaction about what happened to Kayla. I certainly think that Kayla’s father and stepmother failed to protect this child as parents.…
Background Information Cabrini-Green, one of the 11 public-housing high-rises in Chicago, was built in 1958 for Italian immigrants who-who were affected by WWII. This did not work out for the immigrants due to poor living conditions, so they moved out. Soon after, the Cabrini high-rises were transformed and were turned into the Cabrini-Green homes after people built the William Green homes as an add-on to the Frances Cabrini homes. Right after that happened, the Cabrini-Green homes became an extremely segregated place to live, due to the population being predominantly African-American. Most of the population of Cabrini-Green were single mothers, then children.…
The dog movie “The Champions” I found to be a touching and profoundly dramatic film about the pit bulls rescued from the brutal fighting ring of former Atlanta Falcon’s star quarterback Michael Vick. It chronicled those brave individuals that risk it all to save them, overcoming much pressure from PETA and the Humane Society to euthanize them. The film successfully exposed the prejudice and much misunderstanding while slowly eradicating the myths surrounding this breed. The documentary unfolds the journey of five of the dogs such as Handsome Dan, Jonny and Little Red to name a few, and their second chance on life and their supreme power of resilience and the true significance of the Human- Animal Bond. It features several rescue organizations such as Best Friends Animal Society of southern Utah, BADRAP centered in Oakland, California and individual families who reached out to these creatures with love and compassion.…
7). The book then delves into the history that began the process of how the movie came about and includes a section where the director of the movie, Davis Guggenheim, talks about his own history of film making. Guggenheim then explains how he first refused to take on this project but then negated on his decision after realizing he was circumventing the situation of the failing public schools in his own neighborhood by taking his own children to a private school (Weber, 2010, p. 28). As this new project goes on Guggenheim explains of how he worked in humor into the documentary as with the facts that our schools lag behind in every subject then lead all countries in confidence and has the film quickly cut to YouTube videos of reckless acts of young Americans attempting ridiculous stunts that do not end well. The book then enters the lives of four children and the problems they and their families have encountered in their attempts to receiving a decent education.…

Liz Murray’s Breaking Night offers a stunning glimpse into the life of poverty and low class living for a young girl dealing with drug addicted parents. The fifteen year old girl was born in the Bronx, and throughout her schooling experience was taunted for her tattered clothes and lice infested hair. This eventually led to skipping so many classes she was put into a girls home, but when she arrived back to her family, everything finally unraveled. Eventually running away, Liz met friends that turned into the street family she would come to love and learn how to forge for food and ride subways all night for a warm place to sleep with.…
Gina Prince-Bythewood is not only a female director in Hollywood, she is also an African-American female in Hollywood, and it is clear to see how that affects her work in writing and directing. In my personal opinion she is one of the most underrated directors and screenwriters of our time due to her unique ability to combine excellent story telling with incredible directing. In all three of the films she has directed being, Love & Basketball, The Secret Life of Bees, and Beyond the Lights, she casted mostly African-American actors. When asked why there is such little diversity in Hollywood, her response really stuck out to me; she said, “Behind the camera, it makes no sense. In front of the camera, it makes no sense” (Elbert, 2014).…
The movie also sent a message that young women should be allowed to be educated and should also be proud of their education. That young ladies do not need men to define and provide for them. Ana’s character was a good student who proud of being smart and wanted to continue her education. Carmen her mother said that “ men don’t like smart women”. The movie showcased a smart, young, and confident girl who faced her family being upset with her to follow her dream of college and it is inspiring for young ladies to watch.…

In Modern Times clip1, the first factory scene, we can see a lot of interesting film skills, especially the editing makes the movie more interesting by using different tips of editing and helps the audience understand the movie. From Modern Times Charlie Chaplin’s movie, we can see different between upper level and lower level (co-worker) during 1990 Modern Times people’s life. Modern Times portrays filmmaker as a mill-hand used on associate degree production line. There, he 's subjected to such indignities as being force-fed by a "modern" feeding machine associate degreed associate degree fast production line wherever he screws nutty at an ever-increasing rate onto items of machinery. He finally suffers a crack-up and runs amok, throwing the…

The Film shows a positive outlook on inner city kids who are struggling to find their way. The beginning of the film depicts the true violence of the school by having a school shooting occur. The Film shows many graphic and intense scenes but it portrays the correct image of what these students go through. The film also showed positive companionship through a mix of races and a need to succeed. It showed a great comparison between Anne Frank and the students and helped relate to them.…
