Ole Miss freshman girls are know for going above and beyond when it comes decorating for their dorm rooms. When I started at Ole Miss in the fall of 2013, I saw girls with Uhaul trailers pulling up to the dorms packed high and tight with dorm room necessities Girls would be bringing in matching everything, from headboards to matching shoe racks. This year is much different than years in the past, girls dorms rooms are getting national attention compared to years before. WFSB in Connecticut wrote an article for its viewers to read about how girls go all out for their first time leaving apart from school. According to teen vogue one Ole Miss freshman girl had to privatize her account because of how much attention she was receiving. The dorms at Ole Miss would be considered an archetype because of the national attention its getting. Also it appears to the princess types, which most people would call the girls who get professional decorators to come down and design very aspect of their rooms. The dorms that girls decorate show privilege and lavish. Not everyone is as lucky to be able to have their dorms like some girls. The girls could be seen as a stereotype that every freshman girl at Ole Miss has this fancy dorm as if they are staying at the Ritz Carlton hotel. Dorm rooms aren't suppose to be fancy, they are four walls, two beds, two desk and a small closest. I would figure that most freshman girls rooms at their parents house do not look like their dorm rooms at school. But it is a must have for a girl attending Ole Miss, if he dorm room doesn't look like a hotel room that would cost thousands of dollars to stay each night the girls might get weird looks from others or be

The students attitude, the course load, the accommodations are all things that Nichols cites as luxuries that add to a student’s immaturity. Nichols doesn't take into the account the natural maturing that all college students will go through from freshman to senior year. When students enter university they're adolescents, when they leave they are adults. Entering the real world does not start the first day of freshman year. The real world is gradually integrated throughout the four or more years students spend at their institution.…

The true definition of the term 'naysayer' is a person who habitually expresses negative or pessimistic views. This is the way that Caroline Bird looks at college in her essay titled "College is Waste of Time and Money". In this article Bird is very strong willed when stating her opinion about college. She tells her readers that the real reason young adults go to college is because "College is a pleasant place to be; because it's the only way they can get parents or taxpayers to support them without working at a job they don't like; because mother wanted them to go, or some other reason entirely irrelevant to the course of studies for which college is supposedly organized" (247). Bird explains to her readers in a very pessimistic way that going to college to get an education has become very uncommon.…

Does an HBCU offer an African American student more than a PWI? An HBCU, “is a Historically Black College or University, that was founded by our ancestors to educate us on our history as African-American descents.” Before HBCUs were a thing, African Americans were free slaves that were not allowed to get an education. This did not stop them from learning a way to read, write, and calculate math. Modern buildings focus mainly on their function while utilizing a stylistic minimalist aesthetic. On the UCLA campus a prime example of a modern building is Bunche Hall, which exhibits many hallmarks of modern architecture. Because of its modern sensibilities, Bunche also exemplifies notions of neoclassicism in terms of the classic American college, the picturesque, and modernism in order to function socially as a building that emphasizes new ideas in modern education and to serve as an easily accessible and welcoming learning area for students. The social function of Bunche is mainly to serve as a classroom, which is emphasized through its structure. However, the inclusion of a garden in an open courtyard with seating makes it an area able…

Texas A&M’s vice president for student affairs, Lt. Gen. Joe Weber (USMC-Ret,) offered the following observation in response to the survey: “Why is everyone so happy in Aggieland? I’d like to think that it’s because from the very beginning we all work to instill in our students the traditions and camaraderie—the Aggie Spirit—that have served us so well throughout our proud history. Gender roles play a significant role in society. These roles affect how the world views women. Films shunned absurd ladies with their maturing appearance and slumping, bulging frames since they had shifted from the “norms” of womanhood (Douglas 183). The movie, House Bunny, plays on these female gender ideals. An ex-playboy bunny, Shelley, stumbles upon the Zeta house filled with a group of misfit sorority girls.…
