To start off, the arrangement is considered to be how segments equate together and the significance of them (Blair, Almjeld, Murphy, p.132). The arrangements in this advertisement is an example how the commercial begins with close of up shot of Mustafa promoting the product. The producers want the observer’s attention on the Mustafa, thus starts the video of a close up of him and slowly reverses back. To add to that, Mustafa is also shirtless which results in catching female viewer attention. This is important because the producer arranged Mustafa in such a way that will attract certain viewers to continue watching it. The second cultural literacy used is tone. The tone tells us about the authors inclination about the product and the message being visually conveyed (Blair, Aljmed, Murphy, p.131 ). Mustafa’s tone is very assertive by saying “Does your man look like me? No.” Due to his voice being assertive, it illustrates how a man should sound like. For example, in ‘Old Spice - Question’ have numerous gender stereotypes and messages being displayed. In this Old Spice advertisement, it begins with a shirtless, well build and masculine man holding body wash at a beach. Mustafa, the character promoting the product, has a very deep voice and starts of the commercial by saying “Hello Ladies, does your man look like me?” This instantly grabs many women’s attention by the sound of his voice and how it is being displayed. This is especially detrimental to young boys because they grow up to believe that those are the things a woman values in a man, and that is the type of man they should be. Continuing after “Hey ladies” Mustafa says “no”. This targets woman because he is emphasizing that your man does not look like me an I am more masculine than him. As a result, young men feel obligated to workout and instead of the reason to be healthy, they would use supplements to attain the muscular quintessential. Also, he also says “do you want a man who can bake a gourmet cake in a house he builds with his own hands, of course you do.” By this line, Mustafa is emphasizing that every women desires a man who is a well build type of man that can do more hands on work for themselves, besides having one that is non masculine.
