Upon an offender’s placement in the prison, evaluation of mental health and overall physical condition must be assessed to determine the offender’s needs during the duration of incarceration. This is usually determined by the programming and administration departments. During these evaluations the offender is assigned and placed in respective areas. In these areas are where the security department is in charge of maintaining order and safety of the population, allowing protection to the offenders and employees.
