As the story develops, curiosity arises from Oedipus as his quest to find his identity (. Finding this murder would result in the end of the plague. As the disorientation in the dark forest comes about, it shows a confusions on a physical, physiological, spiritual and moral matter for Dante (Canto 1,). Dante’s approach to identify himself, is to accommodate the help from mentor Virgil. As the pilgrim takes the road of the less taken he is fearful not knowing what is ahead of him(Canto 2,). Virgil is the one that guides him to the right path of understanding himself and why things went they way he did. The approach is to show, that leading Dante through the nine circles, purgatory and finally heaven; along with accommodations of his past who have died and other influential mentors, who he looked up to. Dante’s wondering on the dark road can indicate that, alienation from god is present. All three realms of the afterlife portray god. Virgil guides him thru showing the actions of people and the consequences scattered upon them in hell as for every action is a equal. As the story continues he comes to realization that having God in his life would be beneficial to him for he was denied at times to enter certain phases of hell to depict. In the end, Dante acknowledges that God is good to have in life, and to reveal all the sins in his life for the experience he went through.
