Some may claim that Odysseus is the main hero. True, he did come up with the idea to create a hollow wooden horse in order to store soldiers and end the long lasting Trojan War, and risk his life daily going up against multiple kinds of so called monsters and Gods, but he left his wife Penelope and was very unfaithful to her during his multiple voyages. She ultimately saves her whole island from starving and maybe eventually death from lack of resources available for them to use and eat. Odysseus may have been able to conquer the “monsters” he faced but ended up with more dead or missing men than surviving, while Moana fearlessly saved her whole island nation without even looking back. Moana’s heroic calling from her inner self and from the ocean lead to her victory in the end. She left everything she knew and went on a crazy journey across the sea full of setbacks alone, knowing her parents didn’t think it was the best idea.
