After viewing the video, I thought the slap dance was exactly like you said, it was meant to entertain the audience. Some observation that I notice is the performers mostly stomp and clap the soles of the shoes as well as slap each other on the head. The dance follow the beats and patterns of the music, creating harmony between the music and the dance. Their outfit looks traditional with women wearing long cotton dress topped with a bodice blouse and apron as well as knee high socks and black pumps shoe. The male had on short trouser, vest and knee high socks. The dance reminds me of the Irish dance mostly because of the feet stomping. Also, the music is similar because of its upbeat music.
