Some people say that it is because of its low cost, while others make the lack of time an excuse. Although genetics plays an important role in obesity, it is not determinant of a person's weight. Even knowing genes can predispose to overweight, it only occurs when they are combined with other factors, such as habits, diet and lifestyle. In fact, genetics alone can not explain the rapid increase in obesity. Fast food hits a hit when it comes to calories, total fat, saturated fat and sodium. A large hamburger contains approximately 600 calories and 35 g of fat, while a small order of French fries adds 200 calories and 10 g of additional fat. Add a small soda to the mix, and you'll be observing almost 1,000 calories in a single meal. The patterns when eating food have also changed especially in adults. People usually consume a small amount of food at breakfast and lunch and then stuff themselves with processed foods, which contain a lot of red meat, potatoes or refined carbohydrates, during the night and these are the cause of weight gain. Technology is part of life, and people must not demonize its use either. What everyone should try to understand is that there is a limit. Technology makes people immobile. With technology people can get things such as food and basic need products delivered to their front door. This makes people be less active since they do not go outside to do basic things like grocery shopping. According to data from the American Academy of Pediatrics, children who watch television for 4 or more hours per day have a higher BMI compared to other children who watched television less than 2 hours a day. Activities like riding a bike, playing soccer or going to the park have been replaced by this sedentary fun. Sedentarism is devastating to the present generation.
