Throughout this assignment patient confidentiality will be maintained. According to the Code: Professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses and midwives it is stated that “as a nurse or midwife, you owe a duty of confidentiality to all those who are receiving care. Including making sure that they are informed about their care, and that information about them is shared appropriately" (Nursing & Midwifery Council [NMC], 2015) (p.6). Ultimately, every patient receiving care has a basic human right to ensure that their confidentiality is maintained.
