Laurence Steinberg and Elizabeth S. Scott analyze issues surrounding the criminal accountability and the execution of young people. Under standards of criminal cases, accountability is diminished when the person's ability to have good judgment is minimized, when the illegal action was compelled, or when the action was uncalled-for. Another point that Steinberg and Scott present support for is that young people should not be held to the equivalent measures of criminal accountability as adults, since juveniles' ability to have good judgement is minimized, they are less apt to withstand forcible influence, and their personality is still going through development. Lastly, Steinberg and Scott argue that the uniqueness of adolescence as a diminishing…

In the confronting documentary, Audrie & Daisy, film makers Bonni Cohn and Jon Shenk depict a completely biased and illusory stance on the aftermath of two teenage sexual assault victims. A range of conventions are expertly used, positioning the viewers to believe that the government and social media have, to an extent, influenced the victimization of Daisy Coleman, and the tragic suicide of Audrie Pott. Through the perpetuation of socio-cultural values and stereotypes inherent in American high schools, the employment of certain film techniques, specifically special effects, and a discerning use of language choices through editing, Cohn and Shenk have carefully manipulated the audience to sympathize and agree with their views regarding the…
