1. What was the average score you calculated for the lab? What does this number mean in terms of ergonomically correct workplace?
a. The average score we calculated for the lab was approximately 6.9/10, and what this number means in terms of an ergonomically correct workplace is that the room is not very ergonomically correct. This marking scheme is similar to that of a test or assignment, in which 69%, despite it being a passing grade, has a lot more room for improvement.
2. Describe the overall work environment of the computer lab. Provide a rating # (from part A) and be specific when you describe each of the following sub-headings.
a. Lighting, Score: 4/10
i. The lighting in our business pod was one that Sasha and I felt was depraved of many essentials for an ergonomic worksite. One of these was the flickering lights, a problem which could be fixed with better management of wires and better lights in general. Not only do the flickering lights distract the worker, they become impossible to not notice as the glare of various devices will ‘blink’. By doing so, distraction is increased and efficiency is decreased. In addition to this, the blinds and drapes can only control the lighting which comes from the entire pod, and the light inside the room can only be turned on or off. b. Air Quality: 8/10 i. The air quality inside the room is satisfactory, but hindered by the small amount of dust and perfume, hazards for those with these allergic reactions. The dust is often stuck behind the computers, on the sides, or on the monitor. Thus, it is very close to the worker as we often use the computers in the business pod. Perfume will come from some of our peers which we also work alongside frequently. However, there is evident circulation even within the pod, and the air is not exposed to any other chemical or biological factors. For these reasons, we thought that the air quality was an 8/10 as it wasn’t missing anything but lacking in the cleanliness of the room. c. Temperature of Room: 10/10 i. The temperature is great, at a constant of what would feel like 21o C-19o C and thus fits in the range of what is required for a comfortable temperature. In addition, the business room is in the middle of the pod which is surrounded by the school, resulting in plenty of insulation. Because temperature has only one requirement which is always fulfilled, the rating was 10/10. d. Noise: 7/10 i. The noise level inside the room can greatly vary depending on the time and circumstances inside the room. For example, when working on a marked assignment with a time limit, the room is quieter than when a small activity is being done. However, the room is generally noisy and even when no one speaks; the keyboards and mice produce many sounds because they are older models. Because of the constant noise which can escalate very quickly, the room’s noise level is a 7/10. e. Colour: 8/10 i. The colour

Everyone could quiet down when working on independent assignments, and work together to keep the noise level down. In addition, better mice and keyboards could be afforded, minimizing the sound of clicking
4. Describe the actions students in the computer lab could do to reduce their usage of electricity. Also, explain how the school can dispose toner cartridges in an eco-friendly way.
a. There are many ways to reduce the usage of electricity, especially with all the unnecessary technology we consider as essential. The first is the easiest to do, yet hardest to control; putting away your phone. By putting the phone on airplane mode and sleep mode, battery life is maximized during the class. Another option we as students could do is turn off the monitors when we leave the class, which consumes a lot of energy if left on overnight.
b. The school can collect toner cartridges in a box, returning them to where they came from (the company) at the end of the year. If the company we wish to send them to do not dispose of the cartridges in an ecofriendly way, the school can sell them online for a certain price. This will ensure that at least some of it will be recycled, or the person buying the cartridge will have bought it for no

On the way from solar cell to the solar module, the output efficiency decreases. For example when a multi-crystalline PV solar cells of 17.8% efficiency is used, the resulting efficiency of a module is around 15.9 to 16.3%. This decrease in efficiency is mainly because of three distinct losses listed below. 1. Optical losses generated by material reflectance and absorption 2.…

Task 3 Task A Explain how and why the office staff might feel uncomfortable if the actual values were outside the range of acceptable values identified in Task 1. In any office, the room can be too warm when working as a result of the amount of people in room and the number of computers and printers which are generating heat. An overheated office can result in employees feeling too warm which will leave them perhaps too tired or uncomfortable to work. In order to reduce the heat in the office so that maximum work can be carried out, a number of strategies can be deployed. For example, you could open a door, perhaps open windows or remove items of heavy clothing such as jumpers or jackets.…

If I were a JCAHO surveyor, I would conduct a hospital review of Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and the Physicians on an unannounced basis. I would chose this method because it helps organizations provide safe, quality care that’s continuous, not sporadic in nature (DeLorenzo, 2005). As a means of pinpointing gaps in problems related to patient safety and quality and offer guidance to leadership, physicians and other members of the healthcare team, I will observe and interview the nurses, respiratory therapists, physicians, and perform patients and systems tracers (the Tracer Methodology) which puts the hospital in a position that forces them to prove that they practice what their policies and procedures require. My patient tracer will involve…

    Tragedy Of Commons

Professor Victor Miguel Ponce (2014) defines the Tragedy of the Commons as, “a natural resource shared by many individuals, in the absence of regulation, each individual will have a tendency to exploit the commons to his/her own advantage, typically without limit. Under this state of affairs, the commons is depleted and eventually ruined.” Ashford University is currently facing a “tragedy of commons” that presently affects many students including myself. I believe it has stemmed from the unconscious and careless nature of college students and faculty. However, the existence and magnitude of the problem cannot be overlooked.…

This is in response to the recent survey done at College Community Hospital (CCH) in which staff’s main cause of dissatisfaction concern was the slow turn-around of lab test. As an assistant administrator to CCH, I am proposing to find solution to this problem. A performance improvement (PI) project is initiated in order to address this problem. Shaw and Carter (2015) have stated that “the overarching reason for change in healthcare organizations today is the need to improve the quality of care while controlling the cost of the services” (p. 465). That being said, a slow turn-around time (TAT) of lab tests cause not only dissatisfaction from staff, but also a loss of revenue for the facility due to decrease in patient volume.…

Analysis First, and one of the most interesting things we can actually see, when using a scale of 1-10, as we did in a few of our questions, people often did not use five to mean an average. Instead they would often use 7, as the average for a group. This is an interesting finding, and we tried to take it into account later in the analysis. You can tell this is true, because in many cases where people would speak of their roommates as being average, they would put a 7, instead of the expected five. While this is not universally true it was consistently happening, and so some of the numbered scales that were used might have mixed data from people who used five as the average of a group, and others who used seven.…
