Non Probability Sampling Methods

The one types of non-probability sampling methods is convenience sampling. Convenience sampling occurs when data collection is obtained from the easiest to get hold of subjects. For example, if you were going to do a study on hospital-provided water births in Oregon, and you were looking to find out what percentage actually end up delivering in water, opposed to abandoning the water prior to delivery. In a convenience sampling, I would only take information for my local hospital because it is close by and the information is easy for me to obtain.
In systematic sampling, puts the all the population to be studied into a list and then randomly selects a starting point. From that point every nth case in the list would be included into the study. So using the same example as before with hospital-provided water births in Oregon, I would need to contact all the hospitals in Oregon and determine which ones allow water births. From those I would need to obtain a list of the water births, and then I would compile all that data into one list and then I would randomly select a number and then select every nth subject on the total list to be in my sample population.
Random Sample is when each member of the population being studied is

These clusters are then randomly selected using simple random sampling. The populations in those clusters are used as the sample population for the given study. Simple random sampling is used to select the cluster to be used for the sample population for the study. So again with the water birth study, this time I would form clusters from the population. The clusters could be based on location again, or depending on the total number of hospitals who provide water births, each hospital could be a cluster. Then I would assign a number to each cluster and then randomly select numbers, and use the corresponding clusters to make up the sample
