He tells his man to wait and to not to eat the fruit of the lotus, after the natives give his men the fruit. Odysseus refuses to eat the fruit while his men indulge in consuming the fruit that makes his men intoxicated and they lose all thoughts of where there’re from and they just continue in eating more. He can’t lead them home and can barely get his crew on their ships. The only way he gets his crew out the island is by dragging his men back to the ship and locking them up until he can get them out the island. His men sail finally through the dark night and encounter the race of the one-eyed giants, where they almost eat his men, while on their way passing the island of Cyclopes. Only with Odysseus intelligence they escape. He later encounters Circe, the beautiful witch goddess at the land of Aeaea. Circe later turns a group of his men into pigs by drugging them. Hermes talks to Odysseus and tells him to eat a herd called moly to protect himself from Circes drug and then lunge at her when she tries to hit him with her sword. Hermes plan works out
