The older women were allowed to teach the younger women. They would teach them to be godly woman, wife and mother. They were not allowed to teach a man because women were not allowed to teach over a man or have authority over a man. The main teaching was done my men as they knew best. Women were allowed to minister and serve to physical, emotional and spiritual needs of others. The younger women would minister to the ones in needs and older women would minister and teach to the younger women. The men would be the leaders and the women could help their husbands lead but had to make sure they would not overshadow their husbands. Women wouldn’t have a lot of involvement in the church because they should concentrate on their household roles. Women in the New Testament were not allowed to speak in church as it was seen as improper. If they had questions they were not allowed to ask them as they had to be silent. If they had a question or had the desire to learn anything they were to ask their husbands at the company of their own home and Paul states “Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.” (1 Corinthians 14:34-35). They would ask their husbands if they had the desire to learn anything because women were not allowed to be educated, it would be up to their husbands if they wanted to teach their wife things. Women were involved in praying, prophesying and teaching but it was done in a manner where they did not teach over a man or have authority over a man.
