Texting while driving is growing prevalent throughout the United States; therefore, national advertisements directly address the consequences of texting while driving. This distraction takes drivers’ eyes and concentration from the road and other motorists: therefore, greatly increasing the risks of an accident. Per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distracted driving was the cause of nearly one in five accidents resulting in injury in 2013 (DOT HS 812 132). Hands-free alternatives such as voice-to-text have been offered as possible solutions even being integrated into vehicles, despite research suggesting it to still be a distraction (Rosenberger 38-40). These interactive technologies do offer educational benefits for children with interactive games and videos, but when used too often can potentially cause health and psychological issues. Right now, there is a toddler that refuses to go to bed without a television or a tablet. Right now, there is a parent soothing an upset child with games or videos to keep them entertained. This attachment cannot just be a thirst for learning. Consequently, the attachment children are developing towards technology and the overuse thereof, is the beginning of some serious problems as they progress through life. Studies are being conducted to learn more about whether the overuse of technology can predict certain ill outcomes and what parents can do to combat the negative effects of technology (Rosen, et al.
