My sense of duty and my passion led me to serve as an intern with the Navy JAG Corps. During my internship, one of the first things my sponsor told me was, the Navy JAG Corps is full of good people, doing good work. I found that statement to be true throughout my summer at the Washington Navy Yard as the individuals I worked with were talented, passionate, and genuinely kind. Those traits made them good at their jobs. But, the people I worked with were not only doing good work in the sense that they performed exceptionally, the work they did was truly good in nature, as it helped their fellow service members, contributed to military …show more content…
I have demonstrated interests in criminal, international, and national security law. Being a JAG Officer would allow me to potentially work in positions that engage those interests as well as in positions that spark new interests; this excites me. And, my love of learning new skills and adapting to new environments will allow me to be successful at taking hard jobs and doing them well.
My admiration for the Officer lifestyle is an additional reason I hope to become a Navy JAG Officer. For as long as I can remember, I have sought out leadership opportunities, whether it was being the captain of my soccer teams or being a resident assistant at my undergraduate institution. I am determined to become a better leader and individual. That determination will push me to excel at being a Naval Officer.
