Originally born in Haiti, where the sun is always out and there is an average temperature of 95 degrees my skin became much darker to protect from the rays. When I left when I was younger and came to New York, where there are four seasons and less sun, my skin lightened up a little bit. Once I visited Haiti again during the summer, my skin again darkened. Another example would be my intellect of the human body. In my previous school, I struggled with anatomy because my environment was distracting and did not have professors who were supportive. This force has the largest number of factors because it includes so many different variables ranging from parents, siblings, friends, school, coworkers, all the way to television. Since there are so many factors there are also many possibilities for positive and negative impacts on development. One positive impact language, a variable, could have is that it could change the way the individual views the world. Me, for example, I come from a Haitian background and speak creole while growing up in New York and speaking English. I am able to better understand cultures and process information faster as a result of learning two languages. At the same time this could have a negative affect because many people are unable to deal with speaking one language at home and another at school, resulting in the person having difficulty with both. In addition to that the Life cycle forces show the differences in how the same event affects people of different ages. This can very much affect development because a young person will not have the same reaction as an older person. For example, my older sister who’s 26, with two lost her job recently and was in a state of panic because she did not know how she was going to provide for her family whereas me a 21 year old college student who lives with their parents could care less about losing their current retail
