As he traveled, the dragon spat out the game he had eaten before his journey—deer, bear,

The intended audience of the article “ The Indians' Old World:Native Americans and the Coming of European”, are the general public and historians because the article shows how a lot of people give more importance of American history after Columbus rather than before Columbus and criticize how historians know much less history prior to arrival of columbus in 1492. For instance, the author Neal Salisbury states that “historians now recognize that Europeans arrived, not in a virgin land, but in one that was teeming with several million people (435)”. 2. The author’s main argument is that there was densely populated society before European arrival, how certain patterns and processes originated before and after contact with the Europeans.…

At the beginning stages of their settlement, they built and lived in pit houses clustered into small villages. As their technologies evolved, they learned to make pottery and acquired the bow and arrow, a more efficient weapon for hunting than the atlatl, a spear thrower. Being a perfect area for growth, their population multiplied. About A.D. 750 they began building houses above ground, with upright walls made of poles and mud. They built the houses one against another, in clusters and in long, curving rows, often with a pit house or two in front.…

We know what happened in history by the evidence, whether it be written journals, documents of business transactions, oral tradition, or the physical evidence of bones, pottery, and weapons. This evidence does not lie, however, it does not necessarily tell the whole truth. Because bias can change the lense through which we see facts, factual history comes from a well-rounded point of view and includes accounts from opposing sides. Because it emphasizes European sources and leaves out Native American primary sources, the documentary “Native American Civilization Before Columbus” gives a flawed account of life in early America before it was America. It should be renamed “European Civilization Before Columbus”.…

What do you make of the irony that women were often treated quite well in Indigenous traditions and yet, today, Native American women are the group of women that experience the highest incidence of domestic violence? My reaction: It upsets me to think about the violence that women are experiencing throughout all cultures. For Native American women to be experiencing the highest domestic violence I feel at fault. If it weren 't for colonization and the “whites” invading the Native American territory the concept of women being less than men would never have been introduced to the Native American culture.…

To practice mainstream religions on U.S. soil has become such a second nature due to the inherent right of the First Amendment that those who practice or benefit from it fail to see its privilege because not everyone since 1776 has been able use that right. This form of self-determination, depending on the individual, has been used as a means of relaxation, communica-tion, and even escape. As I read through the material, it became clear that, out of practical necessity and proximity, the Native American tribes developed region-specific lifestyles that primarily revolved around their food sources. Sustenance equaled life. For those Coastal natives who had the bountiful waters (both sea and freshwater) for their primary food source, it was sensible to set up permanent homes and communities along the coasts and adapt their diets, tools, clothing, entertainment, transportation, social hierarchies, and overall lifestyles to the water from which they could hunt, gather, and “recycle” back into the sea its naturally-replenished provisions. The Coastal people had no need to farm at all, or to hunt and forage inland because they were…
