The Battle of Tippecanoe occurring just before this war would only be the peak of the iceberg. Americans wanted this war to happen for many of reasons we had do to lack of trust we had for Britain. For instance, they still would not give up western forts they promised. Not only did they promise this, but it was part of a treaty which means they disobeyed a contract. They also would not stop impressing our soldiers which we warned them about on multiple accounts. Not only that, they changed our foreign policy with France. We were allies with them but Britain wanted to be knuckleheads and limit our trade with France due to Napoleon's doings. This was a huge problem that would lead to this upcoming war. The thing that we wanted the most that would impact us nationally and change our foreign policies was the fact that we just wanted Britain out of Canada. Without them controlling that territory, we would gain more ground that would set up our borders. Before the war actually escalated through , a group called the “ War Hawks” would push towards our nationalism with dedicated amounts of hardwork and protests.. During the war, Britain took the advantage of getting to Washington. Here the burning of washington commenced and it seem like Britain was getting closer to a victory. Trying to move northward from there, Americans stopped all other British attacks.Following months of fighting, neither side could not afford to keep fighting and the Treaty of Ghent was issued. This was a 1st step of changing the foreign policy as the border line between Britain and America would be restored as well as easing the relationship with them.
