I am applying for the National Council/National Park Service internships because they present an opportunity for me to grow more as a learner. Coming into college my passion was for people. I wanted to become a social studies teacher to have an impact on the next generation. While I do not think this was a naive objective, I have come to understand that phrase to be quite vague. What I have learned in college is that the essential skill to having an impact on people is to become a committed learner yourself. Over the past two and a half years, I have become a passionate learner.
