Once said by a famous person, “ It’s not about how robust of a driver a person is. It’s about the five seconds, a person take their eyes off the road. Don’t risk it.” This means no matter if a person is an expert in driving the five seconds they have their eyes on their phone is what matters. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) an agency of the executive branch of the U.S. government, part of the department of transportation getting the viewers on how texting and driving is unacceptable. The public service announcement (PSA) from NHTSA is effective of the importance of avoiding texting and driving leads to death, Experts, and five seconds are what a person’s eyes are off the road while texting and driving.
The PSA about, on texting and driving shows how texting and driving is more common in teens that like texting and driving. The PSA demonstrates a girl in her phone passing a stop sign leading to a truck crashing with her. This is one way how NHTSA is showing one way of an accident that texting and driving can cause. Getting their eyes off the road due to texting is 23 times more likely to create an accident. The PSA is giving us the information on how long it takes to create an accident to try and get teens to stop and doing it. Due to the AT&T’s teens driving survey, 97% of the teens agreed that texting and driving was terrible and harmful but yet 43% do it still. NHTSA included the five seconds of the road to get people to be more careful since in short of a time you can damage your life by distraction of electronics 660,000.
In conclusion, the NHTSA has researched by the rates of people being affected by teens texting and driving distraction and ignoring traffic signs are going up each year no matter how bad NHTSA tries to put it out there the danger of getting distracted by a text while
