Mr._________________
I wanted to send you one of my graduation announcements because you are one of the few teachers/mentors I had in my life who taught me something-that got me this far. I will NEVER, EVER forget the day in English class when you pulled out a map of the universe and gave a talk about how small our problems really are. That bit of information definitely saved me hundreds of times while at school. My personality and lifestyle has molded itself around that concept-and I am much happier because of it! I can’t thank you enough for being an inspiration to me-and for pushing + motivating me.
Most people believe that it is your college professors who you’ll remember the most. While there are some-I couldn’t have made it through without your inspiration you shared with me. So-thank you! I hope that your staff + students at ___________know how lucky they are to have you-and I hope you know that, yes, you do make an impact on others’ lives! Thank you again, VERY MUCH, for everything you taught me and for telling me that will go somewhere someday! Sincerely, Sara Dear Mr. _________________________ Now that graduation and soccer is over, I wanted to Thank You for all you did for me over the years at _______________. Your guidance, TOUGH LOVE + KICK BUTT were what I needed at times and your handshake, high-5’s and “Hellos” in the hall were cool too. I knew you were looking out for me and my mom really appreciated that. I hope to see you around and when I do I want to tell you some good news from _____________ College. I can’t wait to get a second chance and succeed this fall. Thanks again for never giving up on me. Cris PROLOGUE Before we are born, while we are forming in our mother’s womb, as our cells are multiplying, and we are taking form, God plants a seed within us. This seed is our purpose on Earth, what we are here to do, our destiny to fulfill. Throughout our lives, it is our responsibility to make sure that seed is identified and nourished in order to take root so that when it is time to bear fruit, we are able to graciously give that fruit to others, and serve. Often that seed becomes forgotten. Sometimes that seed becomes covered in doubt, both self-doubt and doubt caused by others, and identifying it, seeing it, and believing it becomes especially challenging. Sometimes, others try to replace God’s seed with a seed of their own, attempting to convince us what our purpose is, instead of us trusting ourselves and identifying with God’s intent and purpose for us. As an educator, I often ponder the questions around purpose, existence, and meaning; the interaction of all within God’s creation, and what it is we are supposed ‘to do’ in our lifetimes. As an educator, at an early point in my journey, I reasoned the purpose of human existence was that as humans, we are to learn as much as we can in the time we are here. In fact, it reasons that because we …show more content…
Some students walk through school doors academically disciplined and behaviorally mature. Other students come exhibiting significant need and lack of structure. When students attend school, they are fully aware they will encounter adults in positions of authority. Majority of students take for granted that these adults have dedicated their lives to making sure the students they serve continue their journey, and enter adulthood educated and prepared to take the next step after receiving their diplomas. While educators are regarded as symbols of authority, the fact that we serve as public school educators requires us to serve the public’s children. Oftentimes, what can prevent and undermine successful relationship building between educators and students is what happens when a situation becomes disrespectful, which occurs on a daily basis. Students often encounter impatience, rudeness, and disrespect on a regular basis: within their own homes, at places of employment, and oftentimes with other forms of authority, such as with educators within a school. With regards to respect, human beings work from the basic premise that respect works in this
