We started down the clothing section and gathered items on our list. We needed to have the proper winter gear for our cold day at the game. After the clothing department, we went over to the pharmacy to find a few packets of hot hands. While we searched, we ended up on the aisle that had the pregnancy tests. Justin quickly nestled into the corner of the couch and propped his feet up on the ottoman. Yet, I could not relax. I was nervous about the pregnancy test. I could not focus on the show. I sat at the opposite side of the couch slowly eating my pizza and tapping my feet on the floor. Finally, I jumped up and ran to the bathroom to take the test. I could not wait any longer. The directions read that it takes three minutes to receive accurate results. I set the timer on my phone. In addition to anxiety, my palms were clammy and my body began to perspire. I have taken tests before. Though, I have never felt this nervous. My time buzzed. I looked at the test and noticed two lines. There must be a mistake! What if it was a false positive? I opened the second test and quickly took it. I again waited for my timer. The timer buzzed and as soon as I looked down at the test Justin opened the bathroom door. Before he could speak, I held the test out with one hand and said, “Have fun with that.” I quickly shut the door to gather my thoughts. My breath was short, and my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest. What was I going to do? What about my life? Do I immediately quit smoking? Do I call the doctor? When should I tell people? What should I eat? What about the Chiefs game? My head was spinning in circles with a million questions.
