Narrative Essay About Failure

I was always taught that nothing can make me mad, cause me to fail, or cause me to succeed. It was my response to the circumstances I was in that would determine my outcome. It was my choice to become mad at a situation or allow myself to fail. If I did fail, then I needed to correct what I was doing in order to turn failure into success with a few stumbling points. My biggest failure was not what most people would call a failure. I did not really fail at anything in this situation. I actually had a really good outcome.
Throughout grade school I was homeschooled. I always excelled in classes and my mother never allowed me or my siblings to slack off or put less than out best effort into all our assignments. In high school, we attended a college prep co-op and I was taught by tutors. It was difficult work but I handled it well and had no final grades lower than a B. My parents taught us to do our best and not to be afraid of extra work to keep a good grade. I enjoyed this class setting and having peers doing the same assignments gave me extra motivation. This stayed true until I faced a seemingly impossible challenge in my junior year.

Sciences and math were always more difficult for me. I had always been able to apply extra study time and use practice assignments to keep a good grade. Within the first couple weeks, I had begun to really struggle to keep up with the chemistry class. I completed the assignments on time, but my grades were awful. This was incredibly discouraging. I did not know how to pass an assignment, much less the class. I asked myself questions like: Can I pass this grade with an F- in chemistry? Even with trying my hardest I could not move through the book at the same speed or get a passing grade on my assignments. It was incredibly difficult for me to grasp the formulas that we were being taught. This part was my failure. I was frustrated and did not know how to complete the

Failure is something that everyone can learn from. I definitely have learned from failure and improved myself from my past failures. One of my defining failures that comes to mind is this past year at the DECA State Competition. I come from a small high school in Indiana, and we take about forty students to the state competition. One of our largest competitors at state is a high school that brings around five hundred kids each year.…

All throughout my school career, starting all the way in elementary school, school came very easy for me. I found that I rarely had to try hard at anything because it seems like I just knew it. With very little studying I was able to maintain high grades. In middle school I was put in advance math classes and it still wasn't a challenge but then in my junior year of high school things started to get difficult.…

One of my friends had the same exact class I did and I decided to ask her how she was doing in the same class. “Katie! I almost failed chemistry completely this term what do I even do?!” I said this to her in a choked voice. Katie said, “Olivia everyone has a subject that they struggle in, mine is science as well, but that means I just have to try just as hard as everyone else.”…

Failure has always been a huge aspect in my life recurring in everything I indulge myself in; whether it be academically, athletically, or even Boy Scouts. I tend to have a knack for challenging myself till I am unable to complete the task given to me, whilst this could be good in some ways it also puts me in some not favorable situations. More recently I had the thought of completing a bike race , after receiving medical attention for a concussion and a broken collarbone. This was not necessarily the smartest decision on my part, especially since the race was longer than I have ever raced before and also a three day event.…

The first time in my 18 years on this earth that I can say that I really experienced failure was during my freshman year of high school when I tried out for the basketball team. I came into my freshman year of high school thinking I was very prepared for freshman basketball. I thought I was prepared because I had played aau basketball previously for multiple summers and had known and played multiple times against the guys I was competing with for a spot. Well I thought wrong because during the first day of practice I was surprised by the intensity and realized I was out of shape. The first day of practice shocked me because the intensity of the practice was something that I had never experienced before.…

Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn? Failure is not unusual but having the courage to get back up and fight for what I believe in is indeed unusual. Much earlier in my studies, I have surmounted tremendous hardship which caused me to drop out of college. I have migrated to America in the early 2000s with my family seeking a better life because my country did not have much to offer.…

However, there were many issues with every assignment. In general, our grades were never posted to Blackboard so we never knew exactly how well we were doing in the class and where we needed to improve. It wasn't easy at all, that was one of my hardest obstacles because I had to work so hard to get my grades up. Some advice that I’d give to someone who is going through the same is to always do every single assignment that your teachers assigns. You should finish all your missing assignments, you won’t get full credit but that’s better than receiving a zero. Ask the teacher if there’s any extra credit you could do, that’s helpful towards your grade. Always pay attention to what the teacher is saying because the teacher could have said important information and you could have not have been paying attention.…

Everyone learns and studies differently so in order to really succeed you must find what works for you, and how to keep everything in order. It took me forever to really understand I needed to find my own organization and study tactics. Along with organization the need to use my failures to rise up in my classes really led me to maintain high grades. In my edblog “Failure” I discuss the troubles of failure and how to use it to construct a foundation for school. I find I learn more from failures than excelling grades, because it shows that not everything can be handed to you and that I needed to step up, change what I had been doing, and learn new things in order to help me succeed.…

Personal Narrative Why is failure the best teacher? I am going to answer this question using personal stories as examples. Failure is the best teacher because no matter what it changes a person, if someone fails and gives up it shows them that they didn’t really want to succeed badly in the first place, if someone fails and uses their failures to then succeed than they learned what it took to make their endeavour go right. We learn from failure by deciding how we are going to react to it and depending on that reaction, it can be a large change, or a small change.…

I didn’t struggle in the class, but then I didn’t struggle in much of anything academically. After I understood the concept, I spent most of the class doodling while my classmates were confused by the basics of Y axis versus X axis. After several hours of class time, everyone finally understood how to use a compass and map. Plumbing was probably the most useless class I had ever taken in my life.…
