Discussed earlier, it is clear that Napoleon’s main intention was to gain control over France by himself. He was successful in achieving his main goal. He was wise and knew to put himself out there with a good impression as early as his career as a general. Napoleon used his militaristic ability to his advantage and used it to gain trust. Becoming a hero and promising stability to France following conflict almost guaranteed his own power. He was extremely intelligent as well in introducing new legislation which slowly removed power from smaller consuls. Napoleon manipulated the public’s trust and relied on his promise to bring stability through political reform. Combining his ability to deceive with his selfish interests, Napoleon was able to create even more trust by implementing extraordinary amounts of propaganda. These images pictured him as controlling and brave. He tricked the public into supporting his dictatorship even more by censoring media to only portray himself as a grand hero.
