Different Kinds Of Interpersonal Communication

In the beginning of the class I was really shy and I was really bad at talking to others especially starting a conversation. I also had problems talking front of group of people, I would get really nervous and forget everything I was supposed to say. In most of my speeches I had prepared them very well and a lot of information but when I would go up and present I would forget half of the stuff even though it was written on the paper front of me. I was also very quiet didn’t talk to a lot of people. In communication I have progressed in many ways including intrapersonal communications. Interpersonal communication is an exchange of information between two or more people. There are many parts of interpersonal communication, one of them is verbal communication. Which is about what we say and how we say it. I have progress in verbal communication a lot, now I try to say appropriate words even though it’s a very serious conversation, a fight with someone, trying to teach someone lesson or trying to say something directly. Before I didn’t care about others feeling as much and I would say anything to them even it would had hurt them. I think I used to do that because I didn’t know how to tell them nicely or indirectly. Now I try to say indirectly so I won’t hurt the other person as much. There is always a way of saying something nicely even though it is very harsh and it could hurt the other person badly. And by saying it good way is good for both sides and it builds some kind of relationship or bond between them for example, friends and family. I have also progressed in nonverbal communication, which is a kind of communication doesn’t include talking or words instead it’s about body language. Nonverbal communication can be important, than verbal communication, it include facial expressions, the tone, the pitch of your voice, our gestures, and body language. I believe our facial expressions, tone, voice, and body language show what kind of people we are it show our personality. It also shows if we are listening or paying attention to the others or in any way we are interesting about the conversations we have with others. When I am talking to someone I always sit straight, make eye contact, node, change my facial expression depending on situations either good or bad. Sometimes I repeat what the other person says to show I am showing interest at what we are talking about or I show a concern. Listening skills, where I also have improved. …show more content…
I try to listen to the other people as if I was empathizing with them. when I get bored of listening to others I try to put myself in others situation in order to show interest in the conversation. Listening is very important it is a key to all effective communications, without effectively listening conversations are easily misunderstood. Simply listening to others can bring people together it makes a bond and a trust between them. Sometimes when my friends are going through something and they are really tired of it, feel like giving up and just want to talk to someone. And If I listen to them I relax myself and focus on them I also clear out my mind and let them feel free to speak. I also remove all the distraction, try to be patient and avoid any personal prejudice. It makes them feel very good after they let all out. After they trust me even more and it not just makes them happy but also it makes me happy. Inside I feel really good that someone can talk to me openly and it makes me feel special. Being a part of a group is almost everyday life at some point we all are a part of a group either it’s is big or small group, either family groups, social groups, sports groups, and business groups. In a group people interact or engage with others they share thoughts or their ideas on some task they all are working on at the time. Before I used to be really quiet in groups because I wasn’t confidence enough that my ideas could be good. Sometimes I wouldn’t say anything because I would be overthinking about what I should say or not and what if no one would like my ideas, I just didn’t want to embarrass myself. But
