• Explain the major professional challenges you faced in the completion of your practicum. As a part of my practicum, I worked at Department of Health, White River Junction, Vermont. One of the things I have noticed is that my practicum site is a little disorganized. I was told that there was a drop-box located in the local sheriff’s office and there might be more located in other law enforcement offices. Public health and healthcare delivery systems complement and compete with each other in many ways. The main manner in which they complement each other is that they both have an end goal in mind of improving health in its entirety. They both implement education and community programs as well as attempt to develop policies and plans with either the individual or community in mind. Although they work together with the same end goals, they also compete against each other through their own personal agendas. As stated above, some organizations focus their efforts on the individual while others may concentrate solely on the population.…

In the chapter ‘Level 5 Leadership’ Jim Collins uses a chart to use as a reference when assessing yourself as the type of leader you are. This tool allowed me to reflect on what strengths I have but also what is needed of me to grow into the next level of a leader and allow me to be best utilized by my company. This chapter has led me to question whether or not I see a future for myself in my previous job but also has shown me I do have significant qualities that make a great leader, it’s up to oneself to reach the next step.
