I can remember an assessment experience that was negative in my life. I would have to say it was the first set of teaching exam that was on the computer. I remember sweating, heart pounding, and mind racing once the time started on the test. I had to reread the first question at least 10 times before answering the question. I would just keep looking at the time and thinking I don’t have much time left. This was the worse experience in my life and first time taking a test online. Have you had positive assessment experiences? What made them positive?
One positive assessment that I experience would be knowing multiplications in 5th grade. We would get assess by playing math games around the world and multiplication worksheets. I think it was a positive experience because we learned while having fun. I remember leaning a new number by listening to the multiplication records that the teacher would play every day. I still can remember some of the songs. Being involved in my learning helped me understand and remember the concept of the lesson. I took this positive experience and use it in my own teaching when teaching basic learning skills to preschoolers.
One positive assessment experience in the classroom would be seeing the children learn a new shape and walk around the room finding shapes. We all learn differently and absorb information our own way. Therefore. teachers need to be well rounded when teaching lessons to the students in the classroom. When I am teaching preschoolers, I try to make the lesson something that would interest the students. One example would be colors. I would use colors by showing the students, listening to music on colors, watch a u-tube video, painting with colors, building with colors, locating colors on other coloring, and use it for transitions the whole day. We would use all 5 senses when learning about colors to make it a positive experience for everyone to learn the materials.
