Trash islands, which is a result from human pollution, clutters the oceans as well as contaminates marine biology with plastic and plastic components. Unfortunately, humans will continue to contribute to the trash islands and the marine life epidemic by throwing their plastic products out the window and onto the ground as they live their irresponsible lives. The vicious cycle of human carelessness is resulting into the consumption of their very own trash: plastic bags and plastic products. Environmental pressures mainly take the form of marine debris and terrestrial pollution. Marine debris that is not adequately disposed of can harm organisms that may become entangled or caught in debris, specifically threatening the lives of sea turtles and seabirds. Additionally small forms of plastic that may come form various sources also pose a threat to shearwaters and seabirds that may consume these pieces of debris (Fry et al. 1987. While the risk of entanglement remains low due to fishing prohibition, terrestrial pollution that washes ashore (i.e. lead based paint that are ruminants of old vessels/buildings) could lead to lethal consequences if ingested by organisms.…

Plastic bags make it so much easier to carry our groceries as compared to paper bags. Plastic wrappers do not stick to the food product and can be disposed of without taking up much. Utensils made of plastics make cleaning up easier, because they can just be thrown away. All of these luxuries have come from the invention of using plastics to make disposables, but such disposable items are not disposable in the sense that they are hard to break down. Thus, the “luxuries” actually made me realize the dangers of overusing plastics, leading me to look into the environment and how humans are harming the environment outside of plastic…

Driving cars and the use of plastic is essential to our daily lives, but we use them without the concern for how they are affecting the habitats on Earth. Some people think that the chance that they are doing harm to the ocean is less important to them than cost or inconvenience of fixing a pollution problem. Through sources from researchers and scientists, they have found evidence of pollution caused by the two essential commodities in our lives, plastic and burning fossil fuels. Environmentalists have found solutions to reduce the plastic waste in our ocean as well as attempting to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere…
