For the first two years of my college experience I was a part of the volunteer committee, constantly working with my peers to implementing volunteer service in their interest. In addition to this, I was also responsible for finding new and interesting experience such as Indian trails, hosting our own blood donate drive in partnership with red cross and so much more. However, in my sophomore year, I gained a more prominent role in community as a peer advisor and I started to mentor incoming freshman. In that same year, I was also a part of DMUM, an organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for pediatric rehabilitation programs the University of Michigan Hospital. As a DMUM captain I was responsible for a number of things like holding my group accountable, raising money, and finding innovated ways to do so.…
The work of the first organization was primarily educational. I was responsible for organizing all public events on campus. As president of the religious group, my responsibilities were to make sure that the needs of each individual in the community were met. Both of these leadership opportunities taught me a great deal. I learned about the value of teamwork, and the importance of delegating responsibility, not just to ease my own burden, but also to help create a sense of commitment, responsibility, and ownership among group members.…
I have also been involved with my Future Business Leaders of America chapter and am the president of the club. Being so helps me give to the community and school by starting fundraisers for the March of Dimes, running cereal drives for the food pantry, and donating time to other organizations. I lead the meetings and discuss with my chapter what they want to do and what imprint they want to leave on our school as a chapter. FBLA has helped me reach out to my community like all of my other leadership roles I play a part…
Extracurricular activities like the FFA and 4-H Organizations, help students, like me, gain experience in a variety of areas that will enhance our future. Through participation in these organizations, I have learned cooperation, teamwork and time management. By serving as an officer, I have also gained responsibility, as well as problem solving and communication skills. FFA has opened doors to new leadership roles at both a local and multi-county level. I have been given the opportunity to serve as Teutopolis Chapter and Section 20 Reporter and Vice President.…
These organizations have taught me discipline, good work ethics, and leadership. Within the organizations that I am involved in, discipline plays a major role. Discipline in these organizations…
In the spring, they helped me run a clothing drive for Cradles To Crayons with my school and I even went to a reunion where we joined together again in Gillette Stadium and did community service. In the fall, when high school started, I heard about a peer leadership program at Girls Inc., an after school program I’d been attending since elementary school. Coming back from the experience of Project 351, I decided to apply. A week later, I found out I got in. The program was called Part of the Solution (POS).…
So far, I reached out to many community partners to see which workshops they are doing for the “You Matter” event. Also, I got ROTC from William L. Dickinson High School to come out to the event to perform one of their drills and to help empower the children. I confirmed the attendance for several of organizations and I started to make a blueprint for the event. By creating a blueprint for the “You Matter” I used GMPP (Generalized Model for Program Planning) to help me get all my ideas down. I assessed the needs of the target population and after assessing the program, I came up with some goals and objectives.…
I have been involved in an array of organizations that have helped me develop as a leader. In the sixth grade, I joined the Technology Student Association at my school. TSA is an international student organization devoted entirely to the needs of students interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as well as business education. TSA has helped me grow as a student and it has given me the opportunity to serve as a leader in my school and within the association. While in middle school, I served as our chapter’s Reporter, Vice President, and President.…
The number one organization that I really like was the NAACP. The purpose of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure equal rights and to spread equality and to spread positivity throughout the campus by doing community service, fundraising, political actions, and hosting educational events. I love doing community service projects, fundraising, and having equal rights, which leads to my interests which is helping people out and making sure they get the same rights as everybody else. I hope this organization will give the opportunity to make new friends, help spread the word of spread postivity and equality. The meetings for this organization is every 3 weeks.…
I am Ashleigh Hockman. Some will see me as a normal American high school student with a simple small town education. I’d like to open up to you the parts most people don’t see about me. Here’s what people see me as: a student, an athlete, and a club member. That's pretty good to be seen as, right?…
Through student council I have worked closely with my teachers and advisors to better my school by bringing our student body together for events such as pep rallies and competitive games during homecoming week. I have also made great friendships with peers outside of my usual classrooms which has helped shape me into a well rounded person. With National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, we have bettered our community through projects such as a can food drive and buying Christmas gifts for children in need. National Honor Society has also helped me gain connections with our local Special Olympics where I volunteered this past year and plan to continue volunteering. As a member of Mu Alpha Theta, I helped to donate school supplies to children in need as well as a food drive and buying Christmas gifts for more children.…
Being a Reggie leader has helped me to achieve being a leader. Being part of Reggie leader I had to take part of peer mediation, where I had to decide…
I have also been involved in the things that truly matter, including our Youth Alive and my youth group from church. In addition, I am Assist with our Global Leadership Summit Host site that is held in August and I help wherever else I…
Throughout my seven years as a School Counselor in the district I have developed several programs and maintained others. One program that I have taken on more of a leadership role in is the SRBI / PBIS team at Westside Middle School Academy. The SRBI / PBIS team and I meet weekly to discuss where we are and where we need to be. We utilize data to keep us informed of our current practices and reflect on what needs to be changed.…
At Immaculata Catholic School, it takes the leadership of the students to help events go right. In Leadership Club, we are able to learn the leadership skills we might need for later in life and we are able to get hands on experience through fundraisers, events, and school wide activities. We have helped the students at Grifton School who were impacted by Hurricane Matthew by collecting school supplies, we organized a bagged lunch drive, where all of the students helped bag 300 lunches for Urban Ministries of Durham, and we created a presentation for the kids at our school who had never taken exams. These are some of the ways I am giving back to the community where I live.…
