When someone is a child, seeing a person who he or she knows that did something that might seem impossible for them is life changing. It’s like the area is filled with hope, and excitement. The voices of others fade, and nothing but joy shakes through that young mind. That was me. The person was my mom’s friend graduating with a college degree at the University of Houston. I didn’t fully understand what a college degree was, or how I even could receive one. Yet, my mind was set that I would be in her shoes at the same college, with the same type of robe, and the same smile on my face. From understanding over time, I know that I want to continue my education career in college, which major I want to pursue, and what I want to do with my life after college.
My parents were not able to fully carry out their education. Both of my parents came from poor backgrounds because they didn’t have the opportunity, I want to take advantage of the chance I have to carry out my education to a higher level. Not only do I want to earn a higher level of education, but I want to be a role model to any younger family members. I want to show that even if you had no one in your immediate family who has completed a higher level of education, that you still can do it. I also hope that they will apply this to their hopes, dreams, and daily life. This is what college is meant to be. It inspires dreams. I wish to help build my family step by step in accomplishing their dreams, education, persistence, and hard work for the new generations who are here now and to come. Going to college it will help not only my life, but my family’s life as well. Accounting is something practical. Of course, it is accounting. The reason for accounting is because I want to be able to be have a stable income throughout every part of life, and help my family member who also need financial assistance. I want to have an educated background and understanding of making sure I am secure within financial means. There has been many moments where that feeling has left me through family conflicts. When my parents first divorced, my mother had a difficult time supporting me and my brothers. We didn’t have a home for a year, and it was hard for my mother to pay the bills. So many men and women want to make a name or make an endless amount of money after college. Yet, my life is not going to be focused on materialistic pleasure after I receive my degree. It is going to be a life of generosity. Through getting a degree of a college education, I wish to give back to my family and friends that helped me throughout my life. I was a child that needed a whole tribe to raise. Each person in my family did something to help me. Giving back is what I want to do with my life. Sharing, supporting, and helping not only my family but people in need. As child raised by more than two people, I understand how much people can help, and I want to return that favor to everyone. Especially my family whom placed each stone of support for me to take the next step. I will be the person who helps place each stone for them and for every generation to
