Volunteering at the High School The high school was involved through scrap metal drives, the sale of war bonds, and volunteering for the Red Cross. Businesses One business that promoted war bonds in Collierville was the Southern Railway System which forced its employees on the payroll allotment plan to purchase war bonds in order to maintain their jobs.…
I believe that I would be a good candidate for the Grayling Generating Station Limited Partnership Scholarship. Through the following paragraphs I hope to demonstrate my suitability as a recipient of this scholarship. “It’s not where you start it’s where you finish” is a famous song lyric that applies to my life story. I believe my journey began in a small, rural, impoverished village in southern China, named Dapu. At the age of ten months I was adopted by my mom and traveled 7622 miles to arrive in Grayling, MI.…
I have multiple leadership skills where I have to take my knowledge and and apply it to the situations. I participate in many school activities, although I am not out for sports I still cheer from the pep band sections at every home football and basketball game. I set a good example by helping out my community by serving at Parc Hall in Emmetsburg, and I have helped with the putting together of two new businesses between Graettinger and Ruthven. Community Service…

I decided to apply to become a lynx leader this year because I’ve actually wanted to since last year. For some reason, I was too nervous to apply because I was worried I wouldn't be chosen. This year, I decided that I wouldn’t allow that to get in my way because this is something that I want. The entire reason I’m applying is because I enjoy being able to be involved in something and help in whatever ways possible. I’m very responsible, motivated, and I follow directions well.…
I also have to show some leadership on my mission trips as we are separated in to different groups and are working to get a task done by the end of the day. Lastly, I am a mentor for Big Brother Big Sister. Working with a younger youth helping her strive for greatness really impacts both her and myself. Big Brother Big Sister is an awesome program that never leaves a child in need of a positive role model behind. They match you based on your interests making sure everyone has a match they can relate to.…
I am currently volunteering at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass. The department that I started volunteering at is the Family Birthing Center. Some of the roles that we as volunteers perform include keeping the main window and door secure. It is highly important to keep the whole department safe and for security reasons we need to be aware who comes and goes out of the department.…
“The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively. ”- Bob Marley. The quote above should be significant in the lives of all, but not all who live truly aspire to inspire greatness in others and in their self.…
I started building my foundation for community service back in fifth grade with Girl Scouts. My troop volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House, read to kindergartners, and organized food at the food pantry. I continued these acts all the way up through eighth grade. In high school, I joined Key Club, where I sold flowers for powder puff, volunteered at my elementary school’s Trunk or Treat, and helped with the book and coat drive. Outside of school, I continued serving in my church through events like VBS.…
A memorable day in my life is when I came to job corps and got my high school diploma. I never thought I could do it but when I did I felt like I accomplish so much in life. It has yet to end job corps made me a better person when I came here. I can finally say I finished school.…
Volunteering One day, I walked to my friends house. Her mom had just had a baby boy. Just by looking at her, I could tell she was exhausted. So I offered to babysit the baby, so she wouldn’t have to worry about when her baby's diaper needed to be changed, or when he needed to be fed. She said I didn’t have to, but she knew I had a baby brother.…
I volunteered in the recovery room of a hospital for 6 months earlier this year. I was primarily shadowing the nurses as they prepared the patients for transition to the regular rooms. `I also took down results, helped patients get food/drug items they needed, help transport them around the hospital and provided general support to the nursing staff. This was my first experience with volunteering, and it showed me how beneficial it is to not think about myself but help others, while becoming more immersed in my chosen field. On the other hand, it also made me realize that it would be more rewarding to volunteer in a setting with even less available…
Volunteer Experience Reflection I dedicated fifteen hours to the Head Start Program. For 8 weeks I helped in the classroom and met 25 beautiful children. Each child was unique in their own way. The Head Start Program is predominately White but that didn’t change how they interacted with one another.…
If only there would have been more people volunteering, then so much more people could have been helped. And if more people can be help, then the suffering on earth can be ease. The big problem is that everyone is so busy with their personal life that they forget about the importance of helping others. A positive aspect I saw was that those who were already volunteering were really dedicated and kind hearted. I believe they are making a big impact on every person they touched and made it a task to spread their kindness.…
Community service is something I have grown up doing. Throughout my life I have volunteered a lot of my time to organizations within my community. I have served at the community soup kitchen, helped young Monett Water Thrasher Swim Team members improve their strokes, and volunteered as a table worker at Monett High School and Monett Youth Club wrestling tournaments. I have always been very involved in helping individuals within my community. I feel as though performing community service as a child and young adult has shaped me into the person I am today.…
