It was about 18 years ago when I came to this world. I was born in a small village in Yemen in the district of Sahib called Lasboor. However, the education wasn’t great in my home village. The opportunity for education was very limited. My father decided that we had to move to the city of Aden in the district of Burayqah for a better opportunity for education as well as a better job for him. My whole family moved to live in the city of Aden when I was only three years old. I have an older brother who is five years older than me. He started to go to school as soon as we got there. I had to wait three more years until I got to enter kindergarten. Living my childhood years in the city of Aden played a large and very important role in the development …show more content…
My family’s house is located near the beach as well as next to a soccer field. During all the years that I have lived there, I have made a lot of friends. Every day, me, my friends and a lot of other kids from all around the neighborhood would gather around to play soccer on the soccer field or sometimes even on the beach. Those are one of the memorable times of my life. Living near the beach also not only provided with a beautiful relaxing view but also allowed me to learn to swim at a young age. I was able to swim a very long distance by the time I turned eight years old. Also most weekends my Father used to take me and my brother to fish in the fish richest parts of the sea and would teach us all about the fishing and also how to sailboats. If it wasn’t for the fact that I lived near the beach, I would have never learned how to swim or how to fish because there are no swimming pools or any type of body of water that we can swim in in my home village. Living in Aden allowed me to have more experiences and more opportunities and also gain more skills that I would have lacked if I had lived in my home …show more content…

The reason my father decided to do that was because of our neighbors. There was a family who just came back from the United States to visit the rest of their family that still live in Burayqah. They lived two houses away from our house. My mom was a friend of the neighbor's wife. The traditions in our culture that if a neighbor has been gone for a long period of time, we have to visit them when they come back. After visiting them, my Mom told my dad that the wife of the man we visited suggested that we should try to apply for American visas and her husband will help my dad do that since he already has some experiences and some connections. My dad didn’t consider it at first, however, after few days he talked with our neighbor and they started working on that mission. We faced a lot of difficulties during the process and after two years, we were able to get our American visas. That was the biggest change I have ever

Throughout my life I have lived in three cultural distinct regions Lima Peru, White Plains New York and Baltimore Maryland. For the first two years of my life I lived in Lima, Peru and even though I never culturally adapted myself into the culture I would often visit for months and immerse myself into the culture.
